Green Web Host

I was reading about fair trade yesterday and suddenly the idea of green ecological web hosting came up?
Does it exist? A quick search brought up a few solar/wind energy powered hosts/datacenters in the U.S. and one in Canada. Very surprisingly or maybe not so surprisingly I could’t find one in Germany. Not one! Pretty disappointing for a country where the spirit of enviromental protection has quite saturated the society.
And it’s so easy to switch. Just ask your electricity provider to switch your “line” to eco power. Yes, it does cost more but a I would happily pay (a bit) more for a green host.

    Hi,

I found your site while searching for green hosts on Google. I also think green web hosting is a great idea. I am in the UK and I am starting a campaign to inform web designers and persuade hosting companies to switch to green energy – I am building the site at the moment – for now there is just one page at http://www.greenserver.org

By the way, there is a green host in Belgium that I use called dishost although they are more expensive than a typical hosting company. I don’t know of any in Germany though.

    Cheers,

    Graham

AISO.Net is a reliable and responsible green energy hosting company. We have made a strong commitment to help fight pollution and preserving our natural resources. Solar panels run our data center and office.

Solar tubes bring in natural light from the outside providing light during the day. AMD Opteron powered servers use sixty percent less energy and generate fifty percent less heat. These are just some of the ways AISO.net is becoming the world’s most responsible green energy hosting company. Web hosting plans start at $9.95/mo. and we have dedicated and co-location services available.

In Germany meanwhile we have a few data centres listed just about here –> http://www.ecologee.net/Endanwender/%dcbersichtDer%d6ko-ISPs

ecologee.net is about to build a whole Internet powered purely with renewable energies. The Green Internet.
